Grieving Mom Spends 63 Days Pumping Breast Milk To Donate After Son Passed Away

Weighed less than 2 pounds and survived for three hours!

A woman identified as Sierra Strangfeld was super excited when she and husband, Lee realized they were expecting their second child.

Sierra hasn’t had an opportunity to breastfeed her 18-month-old daughter, Porter, because she was given birth to with a tongue-tie – a condition that makes it difficult for a baby’s tongue to move.

But sadly, Sierra, who’s from Neillsville Wisconsin learned that her 20weeks unborn son had Trisomy 18, an uncommon genetic condition that often results in stillbirth.

Also known as Edward’s Syndrome, Trisomy 18 is a chromosomal condition caused by an error in cell division.

Samuel Lee, the Strangfeld’s son was, however, born two months before the due date in November and survived for only three hours, Today Parents disclosed. Accepting her fate and moving on, Sierra decided to then donate her breast milk to a NICU breast milk bank to assist other mothers who prematurely born babies.

With an intention to also leave a legacy for little Samuel, Sierra revealed she had never thought of abortion despite learning her baby’s condition. ‘Termination was not an option for us. That was never a question. We wanted to meet the precious gift and we are going to do anything to meet with him and treat him any baby we would be blessed with.’ Sierra told Today Parents.

Samuel Lee was born on September 5, weighing one pound and 7ounces

With an intention to leave a legacy for little Samuel, Sierra pumped for 63days and has donated over 500 ounces to the Mother’s Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes

Nevertheless, Samuel Lee was born on September 5, weighing one pound and 7ounces. Measuring 12.5inches, he only survived for three hours. On the other hand, Sierra pumped for 63days and has donated over 500 ounces to the Mother’s Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes.
