‘I’m Skinny-Shamed For My No B**bs, But That Won’t Stop Me Wearing Bikini’

“You see my lack of curves doesn’t make me any less of a woman.”

Trolls in Clara Dao’s DMs have continuously skinny-shamed her, but she has learned to love her body, proudly flaunting her no b**bs in bikinis. It was pretty much a rough journey for the 24-Year-Old as she had disliked herself growing up and even attempted weight gain supplements due to being branded a twig and an anorexic.

The Canada-based also wore padded push-up bras to feel more self-conscious, but it wasn’t just enough.

Due to the remarks, Clara, originally from Hanoi, had at a point contemplated a b**b job, and with desperation to put on weight, she was unbothered about the ingredients in supplements bought off Instagram. She recalls one of the rude questions she’s been asked, “No offense, but how would you breast-feed a baby in the future?”

Another had told her to eat a burger and asked if she was secretly a dude.

“I was going through a very dark time, I was heavily into social media and I was obsessed with having a curvy figure with a tiny waist. I looked at pictures of these bodies all the time and I was into body manifestation,” Clara, who now promotes body confidence, and self-love and regularly posts snaps of herself in bikinis, said.

The turning point came when she turned 18.

She had dreamt of a body like that of Kylie Jenner, but when she saw her friend going from A cup to D Cup with breast augmentation surgery, Clara looked up the benefits and risks, which she figured weren’t worth it and decided to learn to accept and love herself. Now, the content creator is happy and aims to help people overcome their body confidence issues.

“You see my lack of curves doesn’t make me any less of a woman,” Clara insisted in one of her videos.

She added: “So tell me I need to do squats that I look like a boy – I’m secure with my body. I practice what I preach and as soon as I started producing body positivity content, I could feel my confidence grow. I look at myself with love and gratitude instead of criticism, hate and disgust.”
