‘I Got Stuck On A Slide In Front Of My Son, So I Lost 136 Pounds To Have My Life Back’

Sara had a goal weight of 153 pounds but she now tips the scales at 116 pounds.

Washington-based Sara Lockett was forced to reckon with her size after a humiliating incident of being stuck on a slide while with her son at a local park. The moment is burned into her memory as her husband had to come over to pull her off the play equipment. The mortified mama also knew at that time she had to do something to get her life back.

The 25-Year-Old weighs 252 pounds, thanks to pregnancies, gestational diabetes, and preeclampsia.

She said as per The Post“I didn’t have the best diet and suffered from binging. I’d eat what I could during the day and then have two dinners in the evening and lots of snacks.” The mom-of-two added she would consume 3,000 calories daily, and chow down on Pop-Tarts for breakfast before having a burger, chicken nuggets, and a large sugary soda for lunch. For dinner, Sara often has homemade fried chicken with macaroni and cheese.

Following the slide incident, the mama started losing weight naturally by changing her diet and exercising.

She told Carter News of the incident: “One time my son was too scared to go down the slide on his own and wanted us to go on together. So, I tried to go on with him and when the slide took a turn, I got stuck and couldn’t go down any further. My husband had to come over and pull me out. That moment is burned into my memory. I knew I had to try something else to get my life back.” It turned out it was challenging for Sara in losing weight naturally.

The mom to daughter Ameliana, 4, and son Roman, 2, didn’t make any progress and was subsequently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, which made weight loss harder.

For an alternative, doctors suggested she try a gastric sleeve as a tool for weight loss and to help balance her hormones. “I had my surgery in September 2021 and luckily, my insurance paid for 98% of it. I had mixed feelings about the surgery. I was so excited, but I knew it would also be a mental journey where I had to work on balancing my lifestyle and my relationship with food.”

Sara had a goal weight of 153 pounds but now tips the scales at 116 pounds, thanks to regular workouts and healthy eating habits.

She continued: “After the surgery, I went through the recovery stages. I had to start with a liquid diet before moving on to a soft food diet while I adjusted to my new stomach. The weight started coming off, and it was encouraging, but I started seeing massive changes when I began working out six weeks after my surgery.” Sara now dines on egg whites with spinach and tomatoes for breakfast.

For lunch, the mama opts for a small plate of rice, steamed vegetables & minced turkey while for dinner, she has chicken/shrimp wrapped in lettuce leaves.

“I certainly don’t have to worry about not fitting down the slide with them [referring to her children] now,” Sara said, adding that she loves she can now be active with her two young children. She further enthused: “I feel better than I have ever felt. I can run around with my kids and play with them at the park.” However, the active mom insisted she feels better than ever and has finally gotten her life back.
