Barbie Ferreira Opens Up About Finding Clothes That Fit & “Backhanded Compliments” She Gets

Shopping remains the ultimate logistical stress.

Barbie Ferreira believes bigger bodies are not as trendy as they used to be, leaving her heartbroken. The Euphoria Star claimed she and a few plus-size people all struggle with self-love, and she doesn’t think any young person has really figured it out yet.

It appears Barbie Ferreira has no time for trolls that wants to body shame her.

Speaking with Who What Wear, the Euphoria star called out the “backhanded compliments” she receives online.

In an interview with Who What Wear, Barbie, who has been publicly online for her adult life, said she feels the pressure “of being this person who loves themselves.” She added it’s so funny that people just assume that, saying: “What did I say that? I never said that. You guys just say that. You posted that one me.”

The 25-Year-Old also called out the conflations between confidence and simply existing in a plus-size body.

She said: “It’s not radical for me to be wearing a crop top. [Comments like those are] just backhanded compliments.”

She continued: “It’s not radical for me to be wearing a crop top. “[Comment like those are] just backhanded compliments. I’ve been doing this since I was 16. I’m 25.” And despite her numerous inspirations and ideas for her own fashion style, Barbie claims that shopping “is the ultimate logistical stress.”

She also opened up on clothes shopping, claiming there is an extreme limitation to anything she can wear.

“I have all the resources in the world to get something that fits, and it’s still extremely difficult,” Barbie uttered.

The actress explained there’s an extreme limitation to anything she can wear despite having all the resources in the world to get something that fits. So far, it has been challenging, and Barbie feels for those who are still trying to find things that fit them. One Euphoria scene appears to speak to the way Barbie presently feels.

During her arc on Euphoria, Barbie’s character Kat navigated issues with body image and beauty standards.

“I hope other people [watching] can also feel the same way and release the pressure of being perfect and happy all the time. Because that just doesn’t exist.”

This scene had happened like a nightmare-like sequence where Kate was surrounded by influencer-types chanting “love yourself,” causing her to scream and cry. She concluded: “I hope other people [watching] can also feel the same way and release the pressure of being perfect and happy all the time. Because that just doesn’t exist.”

While she thinks topics on self-love/body inclusivity are shifting, Barbie said it’s “maybe not in the right ways.”

“I think bigger bodies are not as ‘trendy’ as they used to be, which is really sad to me,” The actress pointed out.

However, Barbie is widely known as Kat Hernandez in Euphoria. She has also been a model since she was 16, having started with an American Apparel gig she landed after an open casting call.

However, the model and actress is known for championing body inclusivity.
