Carol Vorderman Says She’s No Longer Monogamous And Prefers Multiple Partners
The TV host now enjoys being with multiple partners instead of settling down with The One.
Former Countdown star Carol Vorderman has insisted she no longer believes in ‘The One’ but believes in having multiple partners. She had been married twice before, tying the knot with her first husband, Christopher Mather, in 1985, but they divorced in 1986. Carol next married Patrick King in 1990, but the pair called it quits in 2020.
The 61-Year-Old, who used to front Channel 5’s Countdown before being replaced, explained she doesn’t want to get married again.
“You know, I don’t want to marry again. I don’t want to live with a man again. Have to look after him all the time. But this a time to break this nonsense taboo, which is a person should only be looking for one other person that satisfies everything in their life. That’s hell,” Carol said while speaking on ITV’s This Morning on October 7th.
She added: “I live my life in chapters, and you said and this chapter since I was about 50. So far the last decade or so, I’ve lived a life which is much freer.”
“I’ve never felt freer. So I have ignored the looking for one person, and I have a number of what I’ve called special friends.” Carol, who shares two children, Cameron King, 25, and Katie King, 31, with ex-hubby Patrick, claimed ‘our mothers had always told us we should marry when at age 18 or 19, and as a result, most women grew up with the convention to find one partner for life.
Carol continued: “My view is not quite like that. Half of first marriages end in divorce, and nearly three-quarters of second marriages end in divorce. So I prefer to live my life in chapters.”
Speaking alongside Gyles Brandreth on the ITV show, she opened up about the relationship with her current partners, stating: “They don’t know each other, but they know about it. It’s a very honest relationship. One of them has gone on for many years than my marriage. Yeah, it’s over 10 years. Another is 7. He’s an astronaut. He rang me from the space station.”
Carol explained that her partners aren’t looking for love but seek companionship, friendship, and it might turn into love.
“The age is really immaterial, but my experience suggests that somebody roughly in your age bracket. You have more in common.” The TV host concluded her interview by offering advice to people thinking about their own love life. Carol urged: “Go with someone who makes your heart sing, babes. Even if it’s only for an occasional weekend. You do you!”
