Iggy Azalea Announces Her Return To Music Industry After Quitting Last Year
“I’m coming back. Cry about it.”
In 2021, Iggy Azalea publicly quit music due to the negative energy she received and to focus on other creative projects. The rapper, known for her 2014 hit Fancy at the time, announced her third studio album, End of An Era, would be her last for a least a few years, but now she’s coming back bigger and better than ever.
“I’m coming back. Cry about it,” the 32-Year-Old said as she shared the news with her fans.
She added in a lengthy tweet: “A year ago, I was willing to walk away from music because I was tired of the negative energy it attracted. But what I’ve learned is that even when I’m minding my business, y’all gonna be negative AND nosey. So if I can’t have peace, neither can you. I’m coming back. Cry about it.”
In a follow-up tweet, Iggy wrote: “I’m not gonna talk about dates, direction or anything, just know it’s happening, and there will be a budget.”
When she announced her album, End of An Era, in 2021, the Australian rapper tweeted it was so special to her because after she dropped the album, she would take a few years to focus on things she’s passionate about and inspired by, beyond music. Iggy, mentored by rapper T.I., alleged she’s excited for her fans to see different sides to her in the future.
“Shifting my energy and focus to what I’m most excited about is what is right for me and I hope you’ll continue to support whatever creative projects I’m out here doing.”
Of her comeback, fans have expressed their joy as one tweeted: “I’m so excited can’t wait! This is definitely gonna be the best come back.” Another added: “She’s about to give us bops, good music videos, and the haters’ hell.” Despite Iggy’s Australian background, she has since adopted a Southern drawl in her music. She’s no doubt a vibe!
