Gran Slams Trolls Who Called Her ‘Embarrassing’ For Wearing Hot Pants

Embrace your confidence. Rock your shorts!

There is no such thing as an age restriction on fashion. So if a granny wants to wear hot pants, who dares to say “no” to them?

Jacqueline Hootoon is a coach that focuses on helping people to age with grace (and health!).

Hootoon from Bogner Regis loves working out and has built quite the following on Instagram, where she shares her routines and tips. As a 59-year-old woman, you can’t deny that she’s a pretty exemplar teacher when it comes to helping her peers age gracefully, happily, and stay healthy.

And when it comes to confidence, Hootoon has no problem wearing fashionable clothes that rival youngsters. But that hasn’t bode well with some of her followers, who called her for not having “class and respect” for her family.

“It’s not ageism, it’s showing class and respect for your family. I would be absolutely mortified if my parent dressed and acted like this. Embarrassing,” read one of her comments.

Another rude one read, “This is the farthest thing from aging gracefully. If I’m doing TikTok dances at this age take me to a doctor.”

But at 230k followers on Instagram, and multiple brand partnerships, including being the brand ambassador of Women’s Best, she doesn’t really mind the whining.

“I’m going to be 60 in February and I am excited. I’m not frightened, and I’m not apologetic about my age. I want to help other women feel strong and confident in mid-life too. The negative narrative on aging is a great disservice to women.”

She continued, “Would you tell a five-year-old little girl that she only has around 20 years to be at her best? Lots of women approach the age milestones of 30, 40, and 50 with absolute dread because of how ageism affects women in particular.”

The number of people who look down on her confidence, however, could not compare to the support that her followers show whenever she posts on Instagram. One wrote, “Yes! Be yourself no matter what. We are as young as we feel. Age is just a number.”

Another told her, “You look amazing and are so encouraging. The haters are mad at themselves.”

She found the negative comments very shocking sometimes because her point was always spreading positivity and confidence, especially to women with fears of aging.

The coach said, “Who would have thought that my work promoting a positive approach to aging would bring out so much venom and judgment from strangers on the internet? But age shaming is just an attempt to control someone by telling them how they should act or dress or behave based solely on their age.”

“I won’t stop sharing content that inspires other women to support their health in mid-life and try and live longer and better because of it.”

She continued, “Life is precious. As mid-life women, we have decades yet to live by looking after our health and with a sprinkling of luck thrown in. So take the steps to thrive through those years. There is no way your best years are behind you.”
