Johnny Depp Joins TikTok And Gains Over 9 Million Followers In A Day

A day after the Virginia jury awarded Johnny Depp more than $10million in his libel suit against Amber Heard, the actor launched a TikTok account. It’s believed the Pirates of the Caribbean star aims for an eventual return to his social life and film career, while he’s also hopeful he will be able to resume it in the future.
Depp’s joining TikTok came after receiving strong support from users on the platform during the trial.
As of this time of writing, the hashtag #JohnnyDepp had more than 33.5billion views, and #JusticeForJohhnyDepp had over a 20.2billion views. Accordingly, the 58-Year-Old has quickly gained a following of 8.2 million on his account, which he wrote “Occasional Thespian” on his bio.
It’s seen the actor hadn’t followed anyone else, and just a montage video of him has since been shared on the page.

However, Heard, 36, in her 2018 opinion piece for The Washington Post, had described herself as a public figure representing domestic abuse but didn’t mention the actor’s name. But Depp’s legal team insisted Heard concocted the story to generate positive publicity and advance her career. Following his win, Depp shared a statement on Facebook and Instagram.
The actor’s release read: “Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed.”
It continued: “And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled. From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.”
Notably, Depp was awarded $15 million in damages, but the judge reduced it to $10.4 million per state law limitations regarding punitive damages.
The jury awarded heard $2 million for damages stemming from remarks made by a Depp lawyer that Heard had concocted a story and trashed an apartment she shared with Depp to make it look bad when she summoned authorities to the scene. In her statement on social media following the trial, Heard shared she was more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women.
She added: “It’s a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.” On the other hand, the New York Post reported Depp, who is currently on a musical tour with Jeff Beck, is presently focusing on music and relaxing in the wake of the stress brought upon by the trial.
