Makeup Artist Shows How To Perfectly Cover Acne Using The ‘Sticky Method’

Even the worst pimples will disappear.

A renowned makeup artist, Mikayla Nogueira, has shared an effective hack for perfectly covering up acne. The 24-Year-Old laid bare what she calls the sticky method, a process by which she completely conceals her acne. She began her TikTok video [now-viral] with a hydrating serum that left a slightly tacky layer on the skin.

The hack is simple and worth a shot, especially as it comes from a pro known for beauty recommendations.

For the hack, the Massachusetts-based opted for the $44 Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum. She noted that any serum that leaves the face feeling a little bit tacky after it’s applied would be effective. Upon applying the product all over her face, she bounces her finger on her skin to show the slightly sticky finish.

“Here’s how to perfectly cover acne using the sticky method. We’re going to make these [blemishes] look like they don’t exist on the face,” Mikayla said in her video.

She added: “It’s called the sticky method because our face is about to get really sticky.” As she applied the product, Mikayla then showed her followers a little bit of tackiness on her skin as she tapped her finger on the cheek. The next step is applying a gripping primer, any product meant to prime the skin while helping to adhere any makeup to the face.

Mikayla continued: “I’m going to go in with the E.I.F Power Grip Primer. This is a very sticky, gripping primer that grips makeup to the skin.”

She noted that there are tons and tons of gripping primers, but she favors the $10 E.I.F. option because it’s affordable and one of the best. After applying the primer, her face became very tacky, enough to adhere to the matte concealer like glue. Mikayla stated that a matte option is the best product for the sticky method, and for her, the $30 NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer does the magic.

“I highly recommend using a concealer brush. Take a decent amount of concealer on your brush, and you’re going to put it right on top of the blemish. We’re going to do this for the entire face wherever it’s needed,” she advises.

According to Mikayla, one of the most important steps is to allow the concealer to dry for at least two to five minutes. She added: “I recommend using a fan if you have one. At no point in the process do we blend the concealer.” Once the concealer is dried, you can add the foundation on top of it. The beauty pro recommends using a sponge for the application so as not to interrupt the dried-down concealer.

The final step is applying the rest of your makeup as you would normally.

Mikayla told her viewers: “Don’t let acne dull your shine. The amount of people that didn’t even realize I had acne because of this method!” In the comment, she was flooded with praise, and many quipped they couldn’t wait to try it out. A few thanked the beauty influencer for being honest about her acne struggles. “Okay, but this is one of the best methods I’ve witnessed,” one person wrote.”
