Emily Ratajkowski Says Robin Thicke Groped Her During ‘Blurred Lines’
“I didn’t react – not really, not like I should have.”
Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski reveals that Robin Thicke had sexually assaulted her at the set for ‘Blurred Lines.’ Her account in her new book ‘My Body’ details what happened while they were shooting for the controversially sensual video featuring Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, TI, and two other female models.
Then 22 years old, Emily, who was shooting for the unrated version, was shocked.
“Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt the coolness and foreignness of a stranger’s hands cupping my bare breasts from behind. I instinctively moved away, looking back at Robin Thicke,” she wrote in her book.
Filming for the music video was not tense initially, but Thicke’s behavior began to worsen as he started to get intoxicated. That’s when his two hands went for Emily’s body.
She continued, “He smiled a goofy grin and stumbled backward, his eyes concealed behind his sunglasses. My head turned to the darkness beyond the set.
She recalled how the director, Diana Martel, called out and asked if she was okay.
She continued, “I pushed my chin forward and shrugged, avoiding eye contact, feeling the heat of humiliation pump through my body. I didn’t react – not really, not like I should have.”
Martel confirmed the incident to the Times, “I remember the moment that he grabbed her breasts. One in each hand. He was standing behind her as they were both in profile.”
“I screamed in my very aggressive Brooklyn voice, ‘What the f*** are you doing, that’s it!! The shoot is over!!'”
Emily decided not to mention the issue during interviews as she wanted to protect Martel, who was attentive to her and other models. Despite the criticisms, the song ranked first on Billboard Top 40.
However, Martel added that afterward, the 44-year-old singer later showed remorse. Emily also wrote, “I don’t think he would have done this had he been sober.”
