Kanye West Opens Up On His Erratic Behaviour As He Struggles With Bipolar Diagnosis
Rapper Kanye West will soon join the list of celebrities that have been hosted by the legendary talk show host David Letterman as he discusses his battle with bipolar disorder and his ‘erratic behavior’.
In the upcoming episode of David’s talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, the power rapper is going to join the likes of Barack Obama and George Clooney who have hit the stage with the TV icon.
The 41-year old rapper is the latest guest in the latest season of the Netflix show set to be launched on 31 May. Kanye will talk about his mental health, but more specifically his struggle with a bipolar mood disorder which he says often leaves him feeling ‘erratic’.
In a trailer for the upcoming season, David casually chats with Kanye on the camera after a short tour of his warehouse.
Kanye then tells the 72-year old TV personality in the clip: ‘When you’re bipolar you have the potential to ramp up and it can take you to a point where you start acting erratic- as TMZ would put it’.
The rapper’s episode will be available for streaming at the same time as other four other episodes In the new season that has featured other celebrities like Tiffany Haddish, Ellen Degeneres, Lewis Hamilton, and Melinda Gates.
Recently, Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian on her husband’s mental illness and even admitted that he doesn’t take his prescribed medication to help manage the bipolar because it ‘Changes who he is’
She said: ‘I think we’re in a pretty good place with it now. It is an emotional process, for sure. Right now everything is really calm. But we can definitely feel episodes coming, and we know how to handle them.
‘For him, being on medication is not really an option, because it just changes who he is. Traveling a lot does set it off, so he doesn’t travel as much as he used to. But honestly, I never want to speak for him, because I am not in his mind.’
The trailer was released as Kim and Kanye welcomed their fourth baby, Psalm West, who was born earlier this month via a surrogate mother.
The celebrity couple also has three other children; daughter North, 5, three-year-old son Saint and 15 month-old daughter Chicago who was born via a surrogate.
